“Breathe, Frame, Survive” ( BFS Gear) is a concept I thought of as a BJJ player and that I shared on the KEV Talks Podcast. It is practical and easy to follow. More importantly, the concepts work.
“The secret of this sport is, while you’re the nail, hang in there, let them hit you, until the day you become the hammer, then you smash them back!” – Renzo Gracie
- Breathe
- You have to focus on your breath. You have to breathe. This calms the mind and feeds the body vital oxygen.
- Frame
- Frames provide strength. In BJJ they make space that helps us breathe. Frames set us up for movements under, around, and over our opponents.
- Survive
- BJJ teaches survival. To continue learning, you have to survive the initial onslaught of information and discomfort.
