During our conversation, George shares his inspiration to study harder and leave the steel town. He shares what led to his decision to Join the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. George recounts the tragedy of losing a child. And, he shares how the support of his fellow Submariners kept him going and further steeled his resolve to complete the U.S. Navy submarine pipeline and earn the coveted “Dolphins” aka the Enlisted Submarine Warfare Insignia.
