Godspeed Chadwick Boseman

Chadwick Boseman on Being Our Own Hero

Everybody is the hero in their own story. ...be the hero on your own story. You should be....see yourself conquering the dramatic action of whatever you’re trying to do, so when you get to the crisis, you know how to deal with it. You should be able to do that. And there are people that come in and help you with your story, but you have to be the person who deals with the conflicts that are in place. There’s no deus ex machina that’s gonna come in and save it for you. Even if you pray to God, God expects you to do some things.”— from Chadwick Boseman on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah (2018)

Chadwick Boseman’s passing is very upsetting to me. It’s upsetting to see someone who seemed to be the leader the world envisions him as as the Black Panther. Boseman had immense power and influence, but also the humbleness to use that power and influence for the good of others. He lead by example, to push through difficulty and, what’s most important to me, to be a good human being.

A Tribute to Chadwick and Comic Book Heroes

In PPP49: Comics, Cancer and Heroes Brought to Life I share how comic books influenced me growing up. I reflect on the joy and amazement we’ve all benefited from over the past decade with the Marvel Studios movies. Offer my personal perspective as a cancer survivor and admiration and awe I am still in over how Chadwick Boseman persevered during his fight and how Chadwick and the Black Panther helped bring many of our heroes to life.

Godspeed to the Boseman family. Thank you for sharing Chadwick with the world.
