July 2020 Wrap Up Show

Hello again folks. The latest episode of the ‘People, Process, Progress’ podcast for July 2020 is the…drumroll….July 2020 Wrap Up Show. In this brief, but informative episodes I provide a brief synopsis of each of the July episodes.

“If” for 2020 America

I kicked off the month with another adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s “If”, but with focus on some things I think we can do as a fellow Americans to get out of our rut, build on our mistakes and come out stronger.

Write Your Own Narrative

Episode 38 was my $.02 on how important it is for each of us to write our own narrative. We’re getting hammered with news that seems to have so much bias depending on who owns the station and by “experts” in Policing and Public Health that it’s hard to know who to listen to or trust.

Ellen Kullman’s Crisis Principles

On my trip back from Tybee Island, Georgia I enjoyed a great episode of the Masters of Scale (@mastersofscale) podcast hosted by Reid Hoffman (@reidhoffman). Reid’s guest was Ellen Kullman (@ellenkullman), former DuPont CEO and current leader of Carbon. For episode 39 I paralleled Kullman’s 4 crisis principles with the “Foundational Four” I’ve spoken of often and I even adapted to create the “Foundational Five” to now include Leader’s Intent.

Starting a Podcast

We broke into the 40’s by focusing on the newly developed “Foundational 5” things I shared to start a podcast. In episode 40 I shared the importance of figuring out why to podcast, how you’ll do it, choosing resources and more. Check out some sweet tips while you’re making sweet jumps on your mountain bike, then perhaps you can get on the line and start podcasting too!

The Clifton Strengths

Moving further into the 40’s with episode 41 I read Strengthsfinder 2.0 from Gallup and Tom Rath. This book outlines the “Clifton Strengths” assessment process and how once identified, someone can better utilize their strengths to their advantage, in particular the Self-Assurance strength I identified with and then adapted for Project Managers to consider. Consider giving this a self-assured, but objective listen.
