I’m a huge comic book fan. The stories, artwork and issues the comics focused on were very formative for me in my youth. After watching one of the latest Marvel movies recently, I started to think about correlations between members of Marvel’s Avengers to positions often found on Information Technology project teams.
Just as the Avengers balance tasks and teamwork between their most powerful members and with those who have no powers at all, project teams must balance the influence of those in the C-suite with the knowledge and experience shared by project teammates putting in the work at the code level. In this aspect, communication and relationship building are key to create and maintain open communication channels and build trust amongst the team.
